Buicks were first built to replicate the living room in a moving automobile, and were nicknamed the “moving couch of America”. There were 37 Buicks made that year. William Durant was a natural promoter, and Buick soon became the largest car maker in America. Using the profits from this, Durant embarked on a series of corporate acquisitions, calling the new mega-corporation General Motors.

A new extension to the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program this year enabled current undergraduates to apply for the first time ever. One of the four winners recently announced was the first current undergraduate student to win the Buick Achievers Award. We are honored to be a part of the Buick family and thrilled for these four students, who will each receive a four-year renewable scholarship for up to $25,000/year. In addition to the 100 four-year scholarships awarded every year, the program also selects up to 1,000 students/year for a one-time $2,000 scholarship award.
